A player we have talked about for sometime is seeing his senior year be his best year. While he's not listed with some of the top players in the state, Zach is getting recruiting interest because of the type of season his has posted to date. Here is an update from a hard game on Friday night.

Zach Freshwater is on fire. Friday night against a very good Youngstown Poland Seminary team that includes Miami OH recruit WR/DB Dave Koval and Michigan St recruit TE/DL Dan McGarry, Zach led Alter to a hard fought 28-25 win in Poland Ohio near Youngstown, following a 5 hour bus trip.

For the game Zach had 5 catches for 152 yards including an 86 yard in stride, over the shoulder bomb for a TD. Zach also rushed the ball 4 times for 26 yards and had 8 tackles on defense while guarding both Koval and McGarry off and on.  He broke up one pass and had 2 hurries and 1 sack while blitzing the QB.

For the season now Zach has 440 yards receiving (5th in the GCL) on 19 receptions (7th in the league) with a 23.2 yards per catch avg. (2nd in the league). He also has 520 multi-purpose yards (11th). He has 3  TD receptions and 1 rushing TD.

Defensively, his 54 tackles (6.8 per game) ranks him 12th in the league among players who have played all 8 games and his 2 interceptions is still good enough for the top 5.
