   WAYNE                  FAIRMONT

Well its been 9 weeks of great football for the Wayne Warriors. But with one week left in the 2003 regular season they can't overlook the Kettering Fairmont Firebirds.

2003 has seen many new things for the Firebirds. A new coach is just one of the few things Wayne fans will see when they make the trip to Kettering for the final match-up of the 2003 season. The Warriors don't want to overlook the Firebirds, as they look to end the season with an upset win and hurt the Warriors hunt for a home playoff game.

This year has been tough for the Firebirds as they have struggled on both sides of the ball. On offense the Firebirds will run before they will throw. With 1,869 yards of total offense ( 773 passing, 1,096 rushing) they find themselves at the bottom of the GWOC ahead of only Greenville and Beavercreek. The Warriors counter with 2,687 yards of total offense and feature a balanced attack with 1,465 yards rushing and 1,222 passing.

The Firebirds are at the bottom of the GWOC in scoring with an average of 10.33 points per game. They have only scored a total of 93 points after 9 weeks of the season.

Cameron Campeau is the overall leader on offense rushing for 401 yards on 72 carries. He is joined by Nick Wolfe with 229 yards on 77 carries and Kyle Doughman with 151 yards on 72 carries also Richard Reamer has carried the ball and leads the team in scoring with 32 points. A bright spot for the Firebirds offense has been wide receiver Cyrus Neiheisel who's pulled in 20 receptions for 363 yards. He is joined by J.D. Adkins (13 rec. 105 yards) and Tyler Chamberlain (16 rec. 103 yards). Doughman is the quarterback and is 54 / 147 for 580 yards on the season. He has no passing touchdowns and has thrown 13 interceptions on the season. Adam Bolton ( 15 / 22 133yards 0/1) and Bryan Farmer ( 2 / 5 59yards 0/0) have also seen time at quarterback this year.

Defense has been the strong point for the Firebirds in 2003. After 9 games they have given up an average of 240 yards a game ( 1,369 rushing - 794 passing ). They have also given up 176 points for a 19.56 avg. per game. The defense will be tested on Friday as the Warriors have scored 256 points in 2003 for a 28.44 avg. per game.

Penalties have hurt the Firebirds, they have committed 55 on the season for 415 yards. The Warriors have committed 38 for 305 yards. Both teams have fumbled the ball 14 times with the Firebirds losing 8 of them and the Warriors 9.

Special teams favor the Warriors with the kicking of Drew Eby ( 7/13 FG - 30/30 XP 58.63 avg. yards KO ). The return game of Thomas Mouser and Mike Mickens also gives the Warriors big advantage. The Firebirds us John Roll who has hit 3/5 FG and 6/6 XP and averages only 45.14 yards per kickoff on the season. The Firebirds have used three return men this year, but Anthony Green has been the main KO return man and has done a nice job with 11 returns and 300 yards on the season. Fans could also see Nick Graham and Corey Hughes return kicks.

Since the great comeback against Centerville, Warrior fans have asked one question. Who will be the Warriors starting quarterback? Well the coaching staff will have to make that call, but on the season Matt Whited is 88/139 957 yards, he's thrown for 7 touchdowns and has only 3 INT's. Alex Early is 20/28 222 yards, he's thrown for 2 touchdowns and also has 2 INT's. Those are the most current stats we have on both Qb's.
