TRI-COUNTY SPORTS COMPLEX, STRUTHERS (YOUNGSTOWN),
HIGH SCHOOL AGE GROUPS ONLY
Mohammad Fard, owner of the
beautiful Tri-County Sports Complex indoor building, has graciously donated use
of the facility for a benefit indoor soccer tournament to help support the
family of the late George Djisheff.
Many people know that George was
virtually the father of soccer in the Youngstown-Warren area, helping to
organize programs throughout the region, and as far south at Steubenville.
George died last month after a series of heart attacks over several years.
Unfortunately, his health history meant that he also had no life, health or
hospitalization insurance, and his family is in need of help to pay
One way you can help is by entering your high school age teams in
this tournament. The building has been donated. Referees will donate their game
fees. There will be no administration fees collected, and no awards will be
presented. 100% of the money paid for entry fees will be donated directly to the
Djisheff family, and checks should be made payable to Carol Djisheff. The entry
fee is $200 per team and is completely tax deductible as a charitable
December 22-23 is a Monday-Tuesday. The tournament will be
played between the hours of 8am and 4pm each day. There will be a 3-game
guarantee with the length of games determined by the total number of teams
entered. We will track results and standings, but there will be no awards
presented so that 100% of the money can be donated to the Djisheff

and go to the indoor tournaments home page. Click on any of the tournaments
there and print out the entry form…then simply write "Djisheff Tournament" on
the top of the page, fill out the form, and mail it with your check for $200
payable to Carol Djisheff to SSI, P.O. Box 3184, Akron, OH 44309. Sports
Services is donating its time to the organization of this tournament. The entry
deadline will be Thursday, December 18, and teams will be called with their
schedules over the weekend of December 20-21.
The tournament will be open
to both boys and girls teams. It will be open to club squads and high school
teams, and if there enough entries, we will make every effort to divide the
teams into appropriate divisions according to team types.
All of you who
knew George know that this is the type of memorial he would love and support. We
hope all his friends from the premier leagues and high school coaching ranks
will considering organizing a group to participate in this event. If you have
