Jim posted the following information on the OPS Soccer Message Board. I felt it needed to be seen by all. If you have a event that we feel is one that should receive more press from OPS, let us know.

Mohammad Fard, owner of the beautiful Tri-County Sports Complex indoor building, has graciously donated use of the facility for a benefit indoor soccer tournament to help support the family of the late George Djisheff.

Many people know that George was virtually the father of soccer in the Youngstown-Warren area, helping to organize programs throughout the region, and as far south at Steubenville. George died last month after a series of heart attacks over several years. Unfortunately, his health history meant that he also had no life, health or hospitalization insurance, and his family is in need of help to pay bills.

One way you can help is by entering your high school age teams in this tournament. The building has been donated. Referees will donate their game fees. There will be no administration fees collected, and no awards will be presented. 100% of the money paid for entry fees will be donated directly to the Djisheff family, and checks should be made payable to Carol Djisheff. The entry fee is $200 per team and is completely tax deductible as a charitable contribution.

December 22-23 is a Monday-Tuesday. The tournament will be played between the hours of 8am and 4pm each day. There will be a 3-game guarantee with the length of games determined by the total number of teams entered. We will track results and standings, but there will be no awards presented so that 100% of the money can be donated to the Djisheff family.

To enter the tournament, please visit our web site at and go to the indoor tournaments home page. Click on any of the tournaments there and print out the entry form…then simply write "Djisheff Tournament" on the top of the page, fill out the form, and mail it with your check for $200 payable to Carol Djisheff to SSI, P.O. Box 3184, Akron, OH 44309. Sports Services is donating its time to the organization of this tournament. The entry deadline will be Thursday, December 18, and teams will be called with their schedules over the weekend of December 20-21.

The tournament will be open to both boys and girls teams. It will be open to club squads and high school teams, and if there enough entries, we will make every effort to divide the teams into appropriate divisions according to team types.

All of you who knew George know that this is the type of memorial he would love and support. We hope all his friends from the premier leagues and high school coaching ranks will considering organizing a group to participate in this event. If you have any questions, please call me at 330-633-6850. Please don't delay…look into entering now.
