OPS had a chance to speak with Dayton Jefferson Football Coach Robby Moon about one of his seniors and two of his juniors.
The coach was fast to point out that Pernell Williams is doing well and that he will be a full qualifier this fall at West Virginia. The coach spoke highly of the hard work Pernell did in the classroom during the past year towards this goal.
The second issue we covered with Coach Moon concerned two of his juniors that are getting many looks from college coaches this month. Let's look at both of these players and let the coach tell us about them.
Coach Moon had this to say about his linebacker. "Shawn is working real hard. He moved his weight up to 235 lbs. and can run 4.7 at that weight. Were working hard on speed drills to help him keep this speed or increase it more. He's going to camping at several schools this summer, and I'm sure that will help him with recruiting. This past season Shawn earned many honors for his play on the field. Shawn will be taking the ACT on the 12th of June. He did a practice test and scored 18, so we feel he's got a very good chance in getting the score needed."
Coach Moon then spoke about his defensive back prospect Chris Mobley. "Chris is a solid defender. Were going to move him from corner this year and let him play safety. He's got 4.5 speed with a 6'0-6'1 height at 195lbs. He's a hard hitter and is getting early interest from Indiana, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Ohio University and Louisville. What makes Chris a great prospect is he's got the academics in place. He scored a 20 on the ACT and carries a core GPA of 2.6. I feel that Chris is going to see his recruiting rise with camps this summer. I have stressed to all of my kids they need to get into camps to help in the recruiting process."
While Dayton Jefferson may not be a household name for college prospects, it looks like you can expect a couple of kids each year to see recruiting interest. Stay with OPS for more on these two prospects and also the Dayton Jefferson program.
I would like to thank Coach Moon for taking the time and giving OPS some information on his top two prospects for this fall.
