As we told you in the first story on EJ Morton-Green, we expected his recruiting to heat up. So far EJ hasn't disappointed. The big athletic receiver from Cincinnati Princeton is getting calls and visits on a regular basis.
EJ attended the NIKE camp at OSU a few weeks back and did pretty well. He measured in at 6'3, 195 pounds. He performed well in the forty by running a 4.56 and clocked a 4.3 shuttle time. EJ also vertically jumped 32 inches. These are not EJ's best numbers, but still strong regardless. What especially makes them great is the fact that EJ ran track the night before. He was planning on skipping the camp because he was tired, but decided to hit it up anyways.
Speaking of track, EJ has done excellent this year in the 400m. He recorded a PR of 50.20 and took 2nd in the GMC in that event behind only future Buckeye defensive back Brandon Underwood (Hamilton). EJ took first place in the 400m at the Mason District, but could not run regionals due to a time conflict with big family plans.
While EJ did well at the OSU Nike Camp, it isn't the only camp EJ will be attending. He's got plans for a busy summer. The Princeton team will be heading down southeast to NC State for a June 6-9th team camp. Along with that, Morton-Green also intends on camping at the OSU Senior-Advanced camp, the Cincinnati camp, and the Florida Gator camp. Coach Dodds has connections down at Florida yet and EJ hopes that can help him in his recruiting down south.
So what about the offers? Surprisingly, there have been no offers yet, but some are expected in the near future. EJ is taking the SAT June 5th, and once qualifying results come back, the offers should start coming in. A handful of MAC schools as well as Cincinnati, & Duke are all close to offering. The test score might be what they're waiting on.
The Princeton Viking may not have an offiical offer on the table yet, but the attention he's getting sure hasn't slowed down. He's hearing from nearly every school in the Midwest and a few more from around the country. Here is a list of schools that have contacted EJ:
Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Duke, Boston College, Miami (OH), Cincinnati, Army, Kentucky, Tennessee, most MAC schools, and others who regularly recruit this area. Kentucky and Tennesee recently stopped in for a visit. He has also recently talked to Illinois, Cincinnati, Duke & Miami (OH).
As I've said before and will say again, don't sleep on this kid. He's the real deal. He's got that big frame coaches are looking for and he's got the speed (4.56) and athleticism to go with it. He will be the go-to guy this fall and that means big things out of EJ. I still think he's a Top 5 WR in Ohio this year, regardless what the 'experts' are saying. Camps and his SAT results are only going to boost Morton-Green's stock. Stay tuned for more on EJ and other top players from the Buckeye State. If you have any questions or comments about EJ or anyone else, take it to the message boards.
