One Ohio prospect that has been getting some hidden talk is Springfield North Offensive linemen Kevin Mahoney. Word on the street was that Michigan was looking real hard towards Kevin, so we decided to speak with him about the truth in what schools and where he's headed during the next few weeks.
PROSPECT: KEVIN MAHONEY
SCHOOL: SPRINGFIELD NORTH
POSITION: OFFENSIVE LINE
40 TIMES: 5.7
BENCH: 310 LBS.
SQUAT: 420 LBS.
Kevin is in great shape with his academic work. He's got a 3.0 GPA and has already scored a 21 on his ACT and 840 on the SAT. Kevin is on track with his core course load and should be ready for most universities to recruit him.
OPS: How is the recruiting process going at this time?
KM: It's going very good.
OPS: There was talk that Michigan was in your school to see you, did that happen?
KM: They were to come in, but they never did show up.
OPS: What schools are looking at you at this time?
KM: Notre Dame is showing a lot of interest. And other schools like Michigan, Bowling Green, Miami of Ohio, Cincinnati and other MAC schools.
OPS: What camps are you headed for?
OPS: Did you camp last summer?
KM: Yes, I camped at Michigan last summer and that's were the other coaches saw me at.
OPS: I understand you took a visit to Notre Dame, how was the trip?
KM: Real impressive, I really like it up there and look forward to going to camp here soon.
OPS: What schools do you feel are recruiting you the hardest?
KM: Right now I would say Notre Dame. But I'm getting a lot from several schools.
OPS: Kevin I will be in contact soon after you finish your camp tour. I want to thank you for your time today.
KM: You're welcome.
Kevin is another of the top prospects that Ohio will produce for the 2005 recruiting class. Look for Kevin's stock to rise as he makes his way around the different camps over the next few weeks. Also keep a look out for a film breakdown of Kevin in the next week or two.
I would like to thank Kevin for taking the time to talk with us and also his mother for giving us some information on her son and what the recruiting process has been like so far.
