VERBAL NOT GIVEN YET !

After having a Hot News stating one of Ohio's top players had given a verbal, we spoke to the father and got the real story behing the misleading Title. What we found was No Verbal Commitment has been given yet.

And I stress Yet!!!

In a story headline published on this network just yesterday, it stated that Joe Kleinsmith of Lakewood St. Ed's had given a verbal commitment to Indiana University. That header was misleading, and if you read the story you would have seen Joe really liked what he saw at Indiana and felt he could make a commitment there as early as this week. I spoke to Mr. Kevin Kleinsmith, Joe's father about the story and word of the commitment.

During my conversation with Mr. Kleinsmith he stated the following. That Joe did receive a scholarship offer from Indiana University and that Joe really enjoyed the campus, coaches and everything he saw and witnessed during his stay. The staff stressed what role he could play in the program and that they would be looking to put him on the field as a true freshman.

As with any kid going through the recruiting process they get real excited when offers start to come in and coaches make over them. When Joe was interviewed he had just returned home and told the reporter that he did like Indiana and though he could make the verbal real soon to the school.

In talking with Mr. Kleinsmith he stressed that Joe hasn't made his choice yet, but Joe was impressed enough that he could make a commitment there possible this weekend. He also stated Joe wanted to get the recruiting process out of the way so he could concentrate on helping his team during the upcoming football season when St. Ed's looks to return to the state championship game again.

Also today Mr. Kleinsmith informs Ohio Prep Scene that Joe received another scholarship offer on Thursday from West Virginia University. With it came a hand written note from Mountaineers Head Coach Rich Rodriguez telling how much he enjoyed Joe's highlight tape and also that he hopes to meet Joe real soon.

I would like to thank Mr. Kleinsmith for taking the time and talking with us about Joe and the recruiting process. We look forward to being the source for Joe when he does make his choice about what college will be lucky enough to earn his athletic talents.
