Bowie Selects Wildcats

Sand Springs football has started to turn itself around after struggling in recent years. This season they would like to make a run in the playoffs and they will hitch their wagons on both sides of the ball to big man Michael Bowie, who just announced he will play his college ball at Kansas State.

Kansas State fans are getting some good news in the fact that they have added a commitment from fierce two-way lineman Michael Bowie from Charles Page High in Sand Springs, Okla.

Bowie played an integral role on both sides of the ball for the Sandites a year ago, but it looks like he will be clearing paths on the next level.

"I play offensive line and defensive end," Bowie began. "They were recruiting me as both, but I think I am going to be an offensive guard at Kansas State."

"My work ethic sets me apart. I work hard and give 100 percent every time. I am a hands on type of guy."

Bowie was also being recruited by the likes of Tulsa (offer), Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Oregon State, and Kansas, but in the end he just felt more comfortable with KSU.

"When I visited I felt real comfortable," Bowie said. "I liked the facilities and it felt right. They have a lot of nice coaches and people (with-in the program)."

"I also really like Coach (Tim) McCarty. He is a real good guy. He is always 100 percent real with what he says. He told me exactly what he expects from me and what I should expect from him."

Bowie is hopeful that he can help lead the charge that puts Sand Springs right back in the mix for an extended playoff run.

"It is real exciting right now," Bowie said when asked about the turnaround at Sand Springs. "We expect to get at least to the second round of the playoffs this year, if not farther. We ave the team to do that this year, and I think we have a real shot."
