Since the end of his sophomore season, Malvern Prep (PA) quarterback Kevin Doyle has become one of the hottest quarterback recruits in the 2018 class. Doyle currently has offers from Pitt, West Virginia, Toledo, Temple, Kentucky, Syracuse, Nebraska, Boston College, Indiana, Michigan State and Ole Miss.
At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, Doyle says that most of the coaches that have talked to him see him as a big kid with big athletic ability and a very strong arm. As the start of his season approaches, Doyle talked about a few things that he worked on during the offseason.
“I really started to dig into the mental side of the game,” said Doyle. “I wanted to improve my ability to understand what I see during pre-snap. You can never be too good at that because there’s always room for improvement.”
Doyle threw for numerous college coaches over the past several months and has offers from two out of the three FBS in-state schools: Temple and Pittsburgh. Doyle has yet to get an offer from Penn State. “One of their coaches came in to see me once at my school earlier this spring,” said Doyle. “I was told that I was bigger and more athletic than they originally thought. They haven’t really stayed in contact with me.”
Two SEC schools that have stayed in contact with Doyle are Alabama and Georgia. Doyle talked about the chances of each school offering him at some point in the future.
Georgia: “They’re waiting to see if Trevor Lawrence (five-star 2018 quarterback) commits to them. If he doesn’t pick Georgia, then there’s a good chance that I will be given an offer.”
Alabama: “I went down there for a visit and both Coach (Nick) Saban (Head Coach) and Coach (Lane) Kiffin (Offensive Coordinator) see me as a top tier recruit. They want to see my game-film after my first three games or so before deciding on whether or not to offer me. I’m hoping to do well, ball out and see what happens.”
Doyle and Malvern Prep open the season on the road against St. Augustine Prep out of New Jersey on September 2nd.
