Penn State hosted several in-state prospects this past weekend during their game against Michigan State. One of those players, Allentown Central Catholic (PA) senior running back Darnell Ferrell of Allentown Central Catholic, has garnered some late interest from the Nittany Lions. Ferrell scored 42 touchdowns (32 rushing) during his senior season as he rushed for 1,792 yards and caught 12 catches for 348 yards and five touchdowns. Ferrell talked to Penn Preps about his visit and his chances to land an offer from Penn State.
“They’re recruiting me as a running back and they want to get to know me more,” said Ferrell. “I had a chance to talk to Coach Spencer for a long time and I also had a chance to talk to Coach Hazel.”
Ferrell, who currently does not have any offers but is getting interest from FBS and FCS schools, said the Penn State coaching staff was impressed with his film. “They loved my film and said it was freakish,” said Ferrell. “They talked about possibly offering me a scholarship and would let me know in a few weeks.”
Ferrell certainly enjoyed his unofficial visit as he was able to witness Penn State win the Big Ten East Championship.
“It was awesome being on that field and very dreamlike. Honestly, I liked everything about the visit. The game-day atmosphere was ridiculous and I loved how much the fans were into it.”
