One of the more underrated quarterbacks in Pennsylvania's 2018 class received his first offer this past weekend. Marple Newton's Anthony Paoletti, a dual-threat quarterback, received his first offer from Miami (OH). Paoletti is on campus for Miami's Junior Day (Feb. 20). Paoletti talked with Penn Preps about his first offer.
"They (Miami's coaching staff) like how I'm able to stand in the pocket and take hits while delivering the ball," said Paoletti. "They also like my arm strength, my ability to make plays happen when things go wrong and my ability to throw on the run. Most importantly, they like my toughness and grittiness on the field."
Paoletti had a breakout season for Marple Newton this past season. Paoletti completed 160 out of 280 passes for 2,793 yards and 33 touchdowns during his junior campaign. Paoletti talked about how the coaches see him fitting into their offense.
"Their (Miami) offense is almost identical to the one we run at my high school," said Paoletti.
Paoletti, who should see more interest over the next few months, says he's been invited to several Junior Days but does not know which ones he will be attending. What he does know is that he was impressed with what he saw at Miami.
"I really enjoyed the visit. I loved the coaches and I love the campus."
