PREP SCENE BASKETBALL EVALUATION: DeShawn Millington
The Nation’s top Division II College programs searching for a lead guard that can score it at will and get others involved might have to wait. DeShawn Millington is exploring several junior college options in hopes of landing the always coveted Division I opportunity. At just 5’9 Millington has the speed and athleticism to impact a successful college basketball program right away on the offensive and defensive end of the floor. Rarely does a kid his size, get mentioned in the Division 1 potential category. However, Carlisle High School coach Andre Anderson indicated, “Deshawn is a once every 100 years athlete.” His lightning quick first step and exceptional lateral movement makes it nearly impossible to keep him out of the lane. He has expanded his ability to pull up and knock down the mid-range jump shot with consistency this season.
Millington projects to be a scoring point capable of finding creases in the defense and setting the table for shooters and bigs alike. He lead his team in several statistical categories, including a 20 point-per-game scoring average for the 2016-17 season.
Strengths: Athleticism, Lethal with the ball, On-Ball Defense, First-Step, Transition.
Areas of improvement: 3-point shooting consistency.
