Coatesville athlete Avery Young has seen his recruitment pick up considerably since the end of his junior season.
Young currently has offers from Toledo, Maryland, Rutgers, Army, Nebraska and Syracuse. Young is also getting interests from Notre Dame, Boston College, Stanford and a few others schools. Young would like to hear from other Big Ten schools including Ohio State and Michigan. Clemson is another ACC school that Young would like to hear from at some point. Young is in no rush to name any early favorites. "I'm not trying to pick any favorites because my recruiting isn't done yet," said Young. "I still have work to do so that I can get the other schools to offer me."
During the 2016, Young was a standout for Coatesville High School (PA) on both sides of the football. On defense, Young intercepted four passes. On offense, Young caught 48 passes for 844 yards and 11 touchdowns. Young is being recruited mostly as a defensive back by coaches at the collegiate level. "All of the coaches that I've talked to have told me that they love my physicality and my playmaking abilities," said Young.
While it's still early in his recruitment, Young has an idea of what he's looking for in a college.
"I'm looking for a school that gives me feel like I'm at home and has that family atmosphere. I'm looking for coaches that are hands-on, honest and dedicated to building a bond with their players on and off of the field."
