With football season in full swing 2011 SG Corey Littlejohn isn't letting the hoops offseason go to waste. Wanting to tighten up more aspects of his game on the hardwood it's a daily work in progress to strengthen his talents before heading off to college. Currently Littlejohn lists three schools as his finalists and he talked at length about the state of his recruitment with SCPrepNation.com.
Littlejohn says he has a plan in place as to when he will make his decision.
"I plan on committing sometime before or during the Christmas break," Littlejohn told us.
With UNC-Asheville, Western Carolina, and Wofford as his finalists we asked Littlejohn what he liked most about each of the programs.
"UNC-Asheville has been recruiting me since my junior year and I really like their coaching staff. Coach B has coached many great players, and he is a great coach himself. I also like the location and they play in a tough Big South Conference that is on the rise."
"Western Carolina has come in the picture within the last couple of months. The coach there has impressed me with the goals of their program there and the direction in which their team is heading within the next couple of years."
"Wofford has been recruiting me the longest. Since the beginning of freshman year, I feel that I have gotten to know the program better at Wofford as well as the coaching staff. The coaching staff is great there. Coach Young and Coach Harrison have really stressed to me that I can have a big impact on their program."
That being said Littlejohn is wasting no time in trying to narrow things down even further as he plans on hitting the road over the next month to see all of the programs.
"I've already visited Wofford. I am taking an official visit to UNC-Asheville this weekend and after that I am visiting Western Carolina and going up to a football game within the next month."
Earlier we mentioned Corey's work ethic and he shared with us what facets of his game he's been putting a lot of effort into during practice this offseason.
"Mainly my jump shot and ballhandling. Many coaches have told me once I get a consistent jump shot to where my defender has to respect it, that I can be a major contributor as a freshman."
While Littlejohn says he's "pretty solid" with his final three schools there remains a pair of schools who could become major players if they were to enter the race.
"The University of Miami and College of Charleston have always been two of my top schools so they could change things."
Looking ahead to his senior season Littlejohn talked about his goals looking ahead.
"Winning a state championship. We got there last year but unfortunately did not win, and I want to experience that feeling again except winning it this time around. I also want to make my team better not only for this year but for the next couple of years. I would also like to break the 2,000 point mark. I am around 1,600 right now."
