Hillcrest's Mike Rose Narrowing Things Down

With his senior season well underway 2011 LB/S Mike Rose is starting to narrow things down as he's got a list of schools he's definitely going to visit this season. Inside he also talks about the switch from defensive end to linebacker to safety.

Mike Rose Profile

Friday night 2011 Hillcrest LB/S Mike Rose helped his team to their first victory of the season as they defeated Woodmont 45-26. We caught up with Rose afterwards and he gave us a quick rundown on where things stand currently.

Schools have been jockeying for Mike Rose over the past few months and he already has taken a visit and talked about what other schools he really wants to check out before making a final decision.

"I saw Maryland play Navy and that was a great game!"

Currently Rose says that West Virginia, North Carolina State, Maryland, Kentucky, and Wake Forest are his current favorites.

"I am going to try and visit all five of those schools definitely. Wake Forest and NC State came out hard after me from the get go but I'm still getting calls from everywhere else too now."

Rose is currently mostly lining up at safety for the Rams after starting at defensive end as a freshman and moving to linebacker last season. He talked about the move and how things have gone thus far with the position switch.

"Safety is way different from defensive end. I see more of the field and can run down hill but you miss out on a lot of action. The biggest adjustment has been the constant backpedaling."

"I play every defensive position except for nose tackle."

Rose says he expects to make a decision and commit after the season is over.

Given the fact that he's landed so many offers and has options to choose from Rose summed up how he feels about those choices.

"It feels great and I'm blessed that I have this opportunity."
