Not many guys could deal with sitting on the bench behind a star prospect. Dawan Scott took it in stride and learned nuances from his predecessor Mustafa Greene.
Greene has been an impact player as a freshman for the NC State Wolfpack this season. He didn't leave the Irmo running back cupboard empty however. Dawan Scott bided his time and soaked up everything he could waiting in the wings for his chance. Now as the starter during his senior season he's taken the ball and run wild with it to the tune of 980 yards in just four games. Also keep in mind that Scott has sat on the bench in a couple of those games in the second half to give underclassmen some reps and to give his legs a rest.
Dawan makes no bones about it though, 2,000 rushing yards this season is his goal. With a dominant offensive line thus far he appears well on his way. That success had a number of schools blowing up the phone to the Irmo athletic department trying to get more information on Scott and he told us the very latest news recently.
"My coach just told me that Miami (Ohio) wanted me to send them my film. I found that out today. Elon emailed me not too long ago too. I visited Western Carolina and I'm going to visit Georgia Southern this weekend."
The 6'1 175 pound back continues to give most of the credit to his offensive line as he's continued to rack up big numbers on the ground. With 4 games under his belt and just winning a huge game over rivals Lexington which features the state's top 2012 prospect, Shaq Roland, Scott and Irmo look to continue their winning ways.
