As the season rolls along 2011 James Island QB/ATH Bo Patterson continues to excel on the field for his squad. After winning their first four games of the season the Trojans have suffered four consecutive losses. Patterson has held strong showing off his skills however as he leads his squad. We caught up with Patterson recently to get the very latest regarding his season and recruitment.
Although they've been on a slide as of late the Trojans have enjoyed success and accomplished some feats that no other James Island team has ever done before. Patterson talked about the most significant one in which he had his most dynamic performance of the season thus far.
"We haven't done a lot of winning in the past here at James Island, so when we got our first AAAA win on the road at Colleton County, it was pretty special. It also helped that I accounted for 5 touchdowns that night, which is always fun," Patterson told us.
A jack-of-all trades Patterson does a lot of things at a high level for his squad. That versatility is what makes him such an intriguing prospect to so many colleges. Patterson talked about what he wants to see more of from his team and himself down the stretch run.
"We have to play unselfish football and make the plays that we are capable of making. Personally, I have to throw the ball better. Even though I won't be a QB in college, I need to make quicker reads."
Through 8 games on the season Patterson has accounted for over 2,000 yards of offense (passing & rushing) so far.
The James Island prospect talked about where colleges envision him at on the next level and made it clear just how he feels about switching positions.
"Most schools are recruiting me as a wide receiver, but many schools see me in the secondary. Most likely at safety. It doesn't matter at all to me where I line up at, I love everything about the game."
It's that winning type of mentality and attitude that makes Patterson an asset to his team currently and wherever he decides to attend college. He shared with us some of the schools he's heard from as of late.
Patterson says that Harvard, TCU, and Dartmouth are showing him the most interest out of everyone currently.
Currently holding offers from Harvard, Darmouth, and Coastal Carolina we asked Patterson if he felt like any school in particular may be on the verge of offering he replied, "North Carolina State."
Patterson says he hasn't been able to take any visits since the season began but he plans on making his way up to Harvard in the near future hopefully to check things out. He also told us what factors he'll be weighing heaviest when looking at potential colleges.
"A good school that plays big time football. Playing time doesn't concern me. I think I can get on the field anywhere."
Should we expect a decision sometime soon from the James Island prospect?
"I have no real timeframe. Just whenever I feel confident with my decision."
