The Byrnes Rebels were looking for playmakers to step up after losing some marquee prospects last year. Coach Chris Miller and offensive coordinator Bobby Bentley have always been blessed with dynamic players at the skill positions over the past decade and it appears one youngster is stepping to the forefront, enter 2013 WR Akia Booker.
Booker was a prospect we've tracked closely throughout this season and on Friday night he continued to show us that he indeed is one of the next big time prospects to come out of Byrnes. Friday was the last regular season game for the Rebels as Boiling Springs came to Nixon Field. Booker wasted little time in making his presence known.
The 2013 stud scored 2 touchdowns on the night with both coming in the first quarter of action helping the Rebels out to a 21-0 halftime lead. Booker's first score came from 50 yards out on the game's first snap from scrimmage and the second touchdown was from 13 yards out.
For the night Booker hauled in 9 catches for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns as the Rebels withstood a late rally by Boiling Springs to win 38-21.
Stay tuned to SCPrepNation.com as we'll soon be unveiling our early 2013 in-state player rankings where we expect Booker to be high on the list.
