James Smith Profile

Going from a public school to a military school is a big change for almost everyone. Former Greenville High DT James Smith is making that transition as he currently suits up for Hargrave Military Academy. SCPrepNation.com caught up with the 6'1 280 pound standout for an update recently to talk about the change and his recruitment.

"The transition from Greenville High to Hargrave was pretty tough. The military side was such a big change for me. Once I got used to the new rules and obligations, it was not that bad at all," Smith told us.

During his time at Hargrave, Smith has worked arduously to improve his skill set and he shared with us some areas he's made improvements in.

"Since I got to Hargrave my hands have become more violent, I've got better hand placement, and I'm a lot better at shedding double teams."

Turning our attention to recruiting Smith has seen his stock rise since arriving at Hargrave too.

"I'm hearing from Saint Francis University(PA), Florida Atlantic, Ohio University, Towson, Akron, and Western Carolina. I feel like Florida Atlantic is recruiting me the hardest right now. I've got an offer from Saint Francis already."

Asked if there were any favorites at this juncture in his recruitment Smith replied, "FAU, Ohio University, Western Carolina, Akron, Towson, and St. Francis."

The former Red Raider also shed some light on when he'll make a decision and what it is exactly that he's looking for in a college.

"When it comes time for me to choose my school, I am going to think about which is best for my future after football. How I fit into their program. Where I will stand on the depth chart. How the atmosphere of the school is on game day. How nice their facilities are but most importantly where I will receive the best education. I expect to make my college decision in December."

Stay tuned to SCPrepNation.com for more updates on James Smith as he plans to make his decision soon.
