The patience and perseverance has paid off for 2011 J.L. Mann CB Calvin Caldwell as he landed his first scholarship offer on Saturday. Caldwell broke the news to us shortly after receiving the offer while on a visit.
"Lenoir-Rhyne just offered me," Caldwell said.
"It's a weight off my shoulders to get that first offer. I'm up here on a visit with them right now. I'm excited to see who else might pull the trigger now."
Caldwell has been a premier corner in-state for the past two seasons and he was recently selected to play in the prestigious Shrine Bowl. That selection has only helped his recruitment since the announcement he said.
"Since the Shrine Bowl selection I've been hearing from 3 or 4 new schools every night it seems. Brevard, Princeton, Appalachian State, Vanderbilt, Wofford, Western Carolina, and Coastal Carolina have all called this week."
Caldwell says he isn't sure what schools he'll visit next but he's hoping to have a strong showing during Shrine Bowl practices and during the game on Saturday against the North Carolina squad in hopes of generating even more interest and offers before National Signing Day.
