We caught up with 2012 Greenwood High WR Spearman Robinson as he made his way down to Columbia to check out South Carolina over the weekend. Robinson says the Gamecocks made a good impression on him and he talked at length with us about his experience during their Junior Day activities.
"I had a good time at USC! It was nice to go to my first in-state Junior Day and I really enjoyed myself," Robinson said.
A couple of things that Robinson says he was able to experience while checking out the Gamecocks really stood out to the 6'4 wide receiver.
"When we went into the locker room and I put on my number 5 jersey. It kind of became a reality to me that I could play at Carolina."
"I actually got to talk to all the coaches. Coach Spurrier Jr, coach Elliott, coach Spurrier, and a couple more coaches. One of the best parts of the trip was when I went with coach Spurrier Jr. for a while. We spent a lot of time in the film room studying film. That really just showed me how film days would be."
Robinson says that he's still garnering plenty of interest from a variety of schools but as of late that the Georgia Bulldogs have been stepping up their efforts more than everybody else.
"Georgia has been really recruiting me the hardest compared to everybody else."
We asked Robinson how he'd rate his trip to Columbia and he replied, "I can't really say how I would rate the visit because that was my first one and all of them seem great."
