Spencer Collins Profile

Over the past 3 seasons 2012 Easley High shooting guard Spencer Collins is a player we've kept a close watch on. The athletic guard played last season with Southeastern Athletes AAU squad and helped them place 9th in the Division II class at the AAU Nationals in Orlando. We caught up with Collins on Monday as he's the latest player to be featured in SCPrepNation.com's "UP NEXT" series.

Last year as a junior Collins powered Easley averaging 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists per game. The 6'4 180 pound prospect has heard from a number of regional schools thus far and he talked about those schools in the mix and where things stand currently.

"I'm hearing from Gardner Webb, VCU, Wofford, Citadel, Presbyterian, USC Upstate, South Carolina, and Clemson. I don't have any offers yet. VCU sends me a lot of mail, at least a couple letters each week. They were good about sending mail to let me know how their program was doing this past season. Gardner Webb has a lot of interest as well as The Citadel."

This off season Collins says he's playing currently with the Carolina Express but plans on playing with another team in the near future.

"It's going pretty good so far. We came in 1st place this past weekend and we've only played in 2 tournaments so far."

Collins has seen his game elevate each season thus far and he says he plans to continue to hone his craft this off season to get even better.

"I want to improve my ball handling. I think working on every aspect of the game is really important though."

Currently Collins says his ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter, getting to the basket, and his defense are his strong suits.

As for next season Collins has some goals that he's already set for himself as a senior.

"To make All-State and win AAAA state player of the year. It's going to take a lot of effort and hard work though but it's motivation to get better."

Last year Collins was named to the 1-AAAA All Region squad and made the All-Area team for WYFF 4 in the Upstate.

The 2012 standout is unsure as to when or where he'll make visits but it's something that he'll be looking to set up with potential colleges soon.
