The talented shooting guard earned all-state honors last season and has a ton of regional programs showing him major love early on. One program has already extended the 6'4 190 pound guard his first scholarship.

Wideman says he averaged 17.2 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists last season for his squad.

The 2012 prospect also shines in the classroom as well.

I have a 4.36 GPA. It's the highest GPA on the basketball team."

Being so well rounded as a student athlete has earned Wideman a ton of early interest but also his first scholarship offer he says.

"I have an offer from Wofford College. I'm also getting a lot of interest from Jacksonville, Georgia State, Winthrop, North Florida, Yale, Mercer, UNC-Asheville, Texas Christian University, Elon, South Carolina State, USC Upstate, and The Citadel."

Thus far Wideman says he's been able to visit a pair of in-state programs.

"I've taken unofficial visits to Wofford and The Citadel.

The plan is for Wideman to continue to do his homework about all respective programs during his recruitment before making a decision. He talked about what factors he'll be taking heavily into consideration when choosing a college.

"The factors I'll be considering most for a school is the education, their style of play, and their basketball program."

Currently Wideman is playing AAU ball with Team TMP (Trademark Properties) and is hoping to continue to generate more interest on the travel circuit with his squad. It's there that he'll try to utilize his two biggest strengths in order to do just that.

"My biggest strengths right now are my shooting ability and my ability to get to the basket."
