Ernest Talford Profile

After piling up some impressive stats last season for Great Falls High School 2012 running back Ernest Talford has already started hearing from some colleges.

"So far I've been hearing from Miami(OH) and Alabama State University."

Talford told us about his junior and sophomore seasons for Great Falls as well.

"Last year on varsity I had 120 carries for 1,256 yards and 17 touchdowns. I also had 9 receptions for 191 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sophomore year on JV I had 180 carries for 2,009 rushing yards 24 touchdowns."

One of his biggest performances from last season pile up a bunch of yards in a short amount of time he says.

"My best game was against Southside Christian. I had 250+ rushing yards that game and 3 touchdowns all in the 1st half."

Another running back and linebacker prospect proved to be the best player Talford says he faced last year.

"Dexter Staley. He knew he was good and could back it up. His line was athletic which made him hard to stop when he was running the ball."

So what does Talford feels are his biggest strengths right now as a running back?

"I'm fast, I read the gaps quickly, I know how to use my blockers, and when to kick the extra gear."

One watch of his highlight tape and the youngster is indeed right about his skills coming out of the backfield.

Talford says he plans to work on improving his strength, speed, and being able to see the field better this off season to prepare for his senior season.

Recently Talford camped at South Carolina and he said that the coaches put him through the paces during their Senior Day Camp. He's already hit a few combines earlier this year and plans on camping with Coastal Carolina soon.

"I want to try to carry my team to the Championship and win it, and try to put up a lot of yards on the ground."

Talford says he'd like to hear from North Carolina State, Tennessee, and Penn State.

Reporting a 4.077 GPA currently Talford says education, atmosphere, style of play, and a chance at early playing time will play vital roles in his decision making process.
