Battling against all odds the Carolina Express saw a great run come to an end in the AAU Nationals Division II 11th grade national championship game on Monday afternoon. The Louisiana Roundballers emerged victorious but you have to give credit to coach Billy Gibson and his program getting so far with just 8 players on a national level.

The Clemson based AAU program made a late charge after being down by as many as 18 points but ran out of time losing 72-65. Below are the Carolina Express players:

  • 4 Dillon Bender
  • 22 Jared Bryson
  • 14 Spencer Collins
  • 24 Lex Davis
  • 11 Ryan Gibson
  • 33 Austin Herbst
  • 12 Blake Maness
  • 32 Monieco Robinson

Spencer Collins led the Express with 17 points while Dillon Bender, Lex Davis, and Jared Bryson all scored in double figures as well.

We'll have an update with Collins soon as he already holds a couple of scholarship offers and could be on the verge of landing plenty more attention after his AAU performances this season. Last year he played with Southeastern Athletes out of Mauldin and they finished 9th a season ago.

SCPrepNation.com congratulates the players, coaches, and staff of the Express program for their strong showing at AAU Nationals.

We'll have more updates with some other South Carolina AAU programs who fared well in the nationals later this week so stay tuned!
