It's always interesting to watch a prospect "blow up" and that certainly has been the case for 2013 Queen's Grant High (NC) shooting guard B.J. Gladden. Playing with the Carolina Raptors Elite AAU program this summer Gladden's play has earned him plenty of attention from college coaches across the nation. Recently the 6'5 200 pound guard picked up five more offers bringing his total to eleven. We caught up with Gladden to talk about the very latest and more.
A few months ago Gladden's offer list was impressive for a 2013 prospect with offers from Akron, Charlotte, East Carolina, UNC-Greensboro, Winthrop, and Xavier. The mid-majors may have hoped to keep Gladden under wraps so to say but during the July run some of the power conference schools have stepped in and offered as well.
So what schools have really upped the ante since the last time we spoke with him back in June?
"Definitely Tennessee, UNC-Wilmington, and VCU."
The offer from Wake Forest came in July as well and he talked about the Demon Deacons.
"It feels great to be offered by Wake Forest. It's probably the best ACC school to me."
With his junior year set to start here soon Gladden says he'd like to make some visits this upcoming season to get a closer look at some schools who have offered.
"I will probably visit Tennessee, Xavier, Wake Forest, and UNC-Wilmington."
Gladden and his Carolina Raptors Elite teammates had a strong season which ended at the AAU Nationals where he says they lost in the Sweet 16.
Although his recruitment has really just started to heat up and is in its early stages Gladden offered up a list of his current favorites at this point.
"Wake Forest, Xavier, Tennessee, VCU and UNC-Charlotte."
Scout.com will keep you up to date with B.J. Gladden as he continues to sizzle on the recruiting front.
