Fairfield Central lost one of their top playmakers in 2011 linebacker Ralph Cooper to graduation. While Cooper is already at Illinois embarking on his college career 2012 FCHS linebacker Stan Davis is hoping to be doing the same thing come this time next year on a college campus. SCPrepNation.com caught up with the 6'2 210 pound prospect as he had an outstanding junior season and is primed and ready for a big senior campaign.
Last year Davis recorded 53 tackles and 10 sacks for Fairfield Central. With Cooper gone now, expect Davis to see his numbers increase in a big way.
Davis says the Bulldogs of SC State are showing him the most love in regards to recruiting right now. He also says that he doesn't have any offers yet, but that could change in the near future possibly after not being able to hit the camp circuit as hard as he would've liked to.
"I feel that SC State is close to offering me. I wasn't able to attend any camps this year due to finances, but I did attend some combines and did awesome at each one. I ran a 4.52 in my 40. A 4.12 in my pro shuttle, had a 37 inch vertical, and had 21 reps on the 185 pounds bench press rep test."
One of the biggest games of the season especially in the AAA ranks provided Davis with his best performance he told us.
"My best game was against Union County. My stats for that game were 3 sacks and 9 tackles. It was so memorable for me because it was in the newspapers the next week."
Although he has yet to hear from them one school in particular really stands for Davis he says.
"I would really love to go to South Carolina. That is the college I really want to go to. I'm going to continue to play harder and harder until I get their attention along with other schools."
Davis reports maxes in the weight room with a bench press of 350 pounds, squat of 435 pounds, and a power clean of 310 pounds. He also stated that he holds a 3.78 GPA in the classroom.
Important factors in picking a school for Davis are going to be location, education, and conference strength he says. He'd like to be close to home and go to an overall good school.
SCPrepNation.com will continue to bring you the very latest regarding Davis as he's one of the most promising looking prospects in the 2012 recruiting class here in South Carolina.
