DeVart'e Watson Profile

The landscape of the 2013 basketball recruiting class in South Carolina continues to strengthen with each passing day. Today in our latest edition of our "UP NEXT" series we introduce you to 2013 Oakbrook Prep power forward/small forward DeVart'e Watson.

The 6'6 205 pound prospect mans the post for Oakbrook Prep coach George Burgess and he's seen his stock take flight over the past few months. We caught up with Watson and Burgess to talk about where things stand currently regarding his recruitment and outlook moving forward.

Burgess had this to say about his young 2013 prospect.

"DeVart'e is a bouncy, super athletic four man with excellent footwork. He dominates the paint defensively and he rebounds at the square."

The Oakbrook Prep coach has coached some of the area's top talents over the past few years with guys like 2012 5-star guard Allerick Freeman from Charlotte and recent Furman commit Larry Wideman. Both played for his Celtics South AAU program.

Right now Burgess says he'd like to see Watson extend his range to 15 feet to be even better during his upcoming junior season.

Watson has a number of regional schools showing heavy interest early on too.

"Right now I'm hearing from Georgia, Presbyterian College, South Carolina-Upstate, Mercer, Kennesaw State, and Liberty," Watson told us.

"Jacksonville, PC, Chattanooga, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, Niagara, and Monmouth are recruiting me the hardest out of everyone right now."

The 2013 prospect says most schools are recruiting him as a power forward. In fact, Watson already has a pair of offers.

"I've got offers from Presbyterian and USC-Upstate."

Stay tuned as Scout.com have more concerning Watson as he prepares to start his junior season.
