Last week Abbville cornerback Reggie Thomas got some more good news when he received his 5th scholarship offer. We spoke with Thomas about it all and more recently.
So just when did Thomas get the good news of his lastest offer?
Coach McKenzie from Furman told me face to face last Friday before the game that they were offering me."
"Furman is an all-around good school; academically and athletically. I haven't got the chance to see them play yet, but I always check out their game stats and results and they're pretty strapped."
Thomas told us he has yet to visit the campus in Greenville but that should change very soon.
"I'm supposed to visit Furman next week."
After helping Abbeville win a 1A state championship last season Thomas started to generate a buzz for himself and he performed well at various camps throughout the region. So how does the whiz kid from the small school feel about having five offers now?
"It feels real good. Just to know you've got schools wanting you to play for them. Schools who will help you become a better athlete and man. It really means a lot to me."
Having a college coach on the sideline to witness him in action live sometimes makes a prospect tighten up knowing there are eyes specifically on them. Not Reggie Thomas though.
Being that Abbeville has won every game pretty handily except for a tough loss at the hands of Lincoln (GA) Thomas rarely sees much action past halftime. In another Panther victory last Friday he says he put together his best effort of the season with the Furman assistant there to see him.
"Last week was my best game this year. I had 6 solo tackles, 2 assists, 1 interception, and 3 pass break ups."
With the regular season winding down and the playoffs looming Thomas already has an idea of what schools he'd like to visit soon already.
"I plan to visit Wofford again, Furman, and Gardner-Webb hopefully. Im also trying to get up to a Clemson game."
Stay tuned as we'll have more updates with Reggie Thomas as he continues to showcase his talents on the field and off the field in the classroom as he continues to hold a strong 4.095 GPA.
