As many of you know, the Goose Creek Gators are stacked with a number of DI football prospects. But they also have their share of under-the-radar prospects, starting with senior linebacker prospect, Trevon Bennett. Despite being one of the Gators' best players on the team defensively, Bennett appears to be a bit overshadowed.
Trevon is without question a heavy contributor for the Gators' defense, and has the numbers to prove it. So far this season the 6-0, 195 pound linebacker has registered 127 tackles. As a junior last season, he received credit for 153 stops.
The 2012 Lowcountry sleeper reports that he can bench press 320 pounds, squat 430 pounds, and consistently run a 4.4 in the forty-yard dash. Bennett also mentioned that he has a 37-inch vertical.
Despite the many attributes that Bennett brings to the table, he has been receiving very little attention on the recruiting front. Only a handful of programs have been reaching out to the Lowcountry tackling-machine thus far: Army, Furman, South Carolina, UNC-Charlotte, and Newberry.
Trevon informed us that he is in pretty good shape inside of the classroom, and that he is currently waiting for his test scores to return, to see where he stands overall academically.
Although Bennett lacks the recruiting attention he deserves, he doesn't let it get to him. He simply uses it as motivation on field. But rest assure, whoever decides to give this young man a chance at the next level will be getting a steal…
More on Bennett in the near future.
