2013 RB Demetrius Odom Talks Recruiting

For the past month or so one of South Carolina's hottest prospects has been 2013 RB Demetrius Odom of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School. The 6'1 195 pound back emerged as a force to be reckoned with last season and he already holds 4 offers all within the last month. SCPrepNation.com caught up with Odom to talk about his recruitment and where he plans on camping this off season.

Demetrius Odom Profile

The Red Raiders of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School continue to produce more D1 talent on a consistent basis than schools in larger classifications. This year their 2012 class boasts the likes of Martin Aiken (Clemson) and David Deleon (Miami OH). The Red Raiders 2013 class is already starting to make noise and leading the way as of late is running back Demetrius Odom.

So far the 6'1 195 pound back holds 4 scholarship offers from Miami (OH), North Carolina A&T, South Carolina State, and Youngstown State. His film is still making the rounds and from our analysis of his junior season highlights it's easy to see why schools are jumping on board early.

So where does Odom stand right now with his recruitment?

"So far I'm just keeping an open mind with looking at all these schools."

Right now Odom is still relatively fresh to the recruiting scene so he hasn't hit the road to check out many schools yet he says.

"I haven't made any official visits yet, the only trip I have made was up to Clemson's junior day."

As of now Clemson is the only camp slated for Odom this off season but he says that could change as his recruitment starts to heat up.

Odom talked about his upcoming senior season next year and what his goals are.

"I really want to try to start off the season being more productive for my team unlike last year."

Moving in to Bamberg prior to last season the 2013 running back talked about how life is like with the daily wars in practice and how it has affected his mentality and work ethic.

"I think moving to Bamberg and practicing with a team like ours period is a test of how good I am. Practicing with those guys just made that test more challenging."

So what player provided him the biggest challenge in practice this past season?

"I would have to say Martin Aiken. His size and explosiveness makes it tough for offensive line guys to stop him, and that just makes my job that much harder. He's a really good player."

During his junior season Odom amassed 1,469 yards rushing and scored 18 touchdowns for the Red Raiders punishing ground game. SCPrepNation.com will keep you posted about his recruitment as he continues to pile up more offers so stay tuned!
