2013 Intro: A.C. Flora CB Will Turman

One ACC school is already taking a look at 2013 cornerback Will Turman from A.C. Flora High School. We caught up with the 5'9 160 pound prospect to talk about his recruitment and more as he's looking to draw more attention from college recruiters this off season.

Will Turman Profile

A solid junior season has brought about some early interest for 2013 cornerback Will Turman of A.C. Flora High School. The 5'9 160 pound prospect is hoping that it's just the tip of the iceberg in regards to recruiting too. We caught up with Turman recently to talk about it all.

Last year Turman made a number of plays for his team and also faced what some feel was the top wide receiver prospect in the 2012 class, Columbia High wide receiver Casey Gladney who has committed to Texas Tech.

"Casey Gladney from Columbia was the toughest player I faced last season. He was so quick off the line and he was pretty long too. He was tough to cover."

Never one to back down from a battle Turman finished his junior season with 42 tackles, 13 pass break ups, 2 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles.

One game in particular was his best he says.

"My best game would be the Airport game. I had like 6 tackles and an interception in that game. It was memorable because I ran down their quarterback who was supposed to be pretty fast and it was for the region championship."

"Right now I would say my strength, having good hands, and good hips are my strong suits on the field."

This off season Turman says he'll try to get even faster, work on his tackling, and add weight to his frame to better prepare for his senior season. He's already heard one ACC school early on in the process too.

"So far I've heard from Duke."

Turman says he's looking forward to hearing from more schools in the near future.

The A.C. Flora prospect also told us that he patterns his game after a pair of players, one current and soon to be NFL player.

"I like to pattern my game after Joe Haden for the Browns. I like his style of play. I also study Maurice Claiborne from LSU."

Looking ahead to playing on the next level Turman keyed on a couple of aspects that will be vital in his decision making process.

"Factors that are most important for me choosing a college would be the coaching staff, the atmosphere, and graduation rate would be the main thing because education is first in my family."

Turman reports a 2.8 core GPA and a 3.2 overall GPA currently.
