Demario Evans Profile

The love of the game is something that Demario Evans takes very seriously. Evans a 2013 cornerback at Ridge View High School professes his level of love for the game so much that he feels his love for the game of football is higher than everyone else's and he says that fuels him as one of his biggest strengths on the field. That love has generated Evans three scholarship offers already and he sat down with Scout.com as he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com.

The aforementioned love of the game has brought many suitors into the mix for Evans and he shared the lengthy list of schools he's hearing from currently.

"I'm hearing from Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Elon, Georgia Southern, Hampton, Illinois, Marshall, Purdue, Richmond, South Carolina State, Presbyterian, Newberry, and West Virginia so far."

Some of those schools have amped up their recruiting pressure and Evans told us which ones are hitting him the hardest on the recruiting trail right now.

"Purdue, Appalachian State, South Carolina State, Newberry, Marshall, Catawba, and Hampton are recruiting me the hardest right now I'd say."

Evans holds offers from Hampton, Newberry, and South Carolina State. He talked about a pair of those schools and what he likes most about each of them. (South Carolina State offered after the interview was held)

"I like Newberry because I know a couple guys who go there that I work out with. Apollo Stretch, Brian Spencer, David Davis, and Brandon Bostick they all took me up there for the spring game and I like how those guys work hard and go get it on the grass out there. I really like the Newberry coaches too. I like Hampton because it's a HBCU and I really like coach Hill. He's a cool guy."

Evans says he has yet to take any visits and it looks like he may look at taking some possibly during the season or afterwards.

The Ridge View standout said he's wanting to hear more from the likes of Florida State, Illinois, and West Virginia.

Asked what he feels his biggest strengths on the field are Evans responded, "My love for the game is different than everybody else's I think. Nobody feels the same way I do about it. I also think my ability to break on the ball is one of my biggest strengths too."

He also takes a great attitude towards strengthening his game as well.

"Everything can be improved in my opinion. There's always room for improvement in my opinion."

This past season Evans fared well on the field for his squad with 49 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 5 interceptions, 8 pass break ups, 2 field goal blocks.

Having earned multiple player of the game and player of the week honors last season Evans is looking forward to his senior season. He's also looking forward to some specific games on the schedule as well.

"I'm looking forward to the Lexington game because it's the first game and those guys have no respect for us at all! I'm also looking forward to the Westwood game because their a new school and we have let them know they are not about to come push us around. Spring valley I didn't get to play that game last year because I broke my hand and that was a close one, we lost 13-10. Lastly the Blythewood game because I can't stand those guys over that way I haven't beat them yet since I came to Ridge view!"

One game last season was especially tough for Evans but it also fueled him to what he feels was his best performance of his junior season.

"The Fort Mill game my grandmother had just died. Before the game my dad told me to go out and play hard for her and I had 12 tackles and 2 interceptions."

Looking ahead to playing on the college level Evans told us what he'll consider the most when looking at potential schools.

"Atmosphere, coaching staff, education, and early playing time because I will also like to come in and have to compete for playing time."

Evans says he benches 225 pounds on the bench press, 300 pounds on the squat, runs a 4.6 second 40 yard dash, and has a personal best of 4.0 seconds in the pro shuttle.
