Woodmont WR Levon Lane A Dynamic Playmaker

2013 wide receiver/returner Levon Lane of Woodmont High School can flat out play! Lane isn't the biggest wideout but his elusiveness and quickness are top notch and he has already sparked interest from a number of college coaches. Lane also has value as a dynamic return specialist as well. SCPrepNation.com has the inside scoop with Lane about his recruitment and more!

Levon Lane Profile

Playing at wide receiver and defensive back last season Woodmont's Levon Lane saw plenty of action for the Wildcats. Heading into his senior season the 2013 prospect is hearing from schools already and he's hoping to impress some with his play early on in hopes of landing his first scholarship offer. Lane sat down with SCPrepNation.com this week and gave us the lowdown regarding his recruitment and more.

Woodmont made strides playing in AAAA a year ago and Lane and the Wildcats are looking to build upon that success to make this coming season an even better one.

Lane says one game stood out as his most memorable during his junior season.

"The game against Westside was my most memorable game because we beat them on their homecoming. And I scored the game winning touchdown with less than a minute to go to in regulation."

At 5'9 170 pounds Lane isn't huge physically but what he lacks in size he makes up with quickness. An electric playmaker when he gets in the open field defenders usually go flying or by the way side. He'd be ideal as a slot receiver but also shows versatility as a dangerous return specialist on special teams with his blend of speed and quickness.

Lane acknowledged that his quickness is his greatest strength right now and it has generated interest from a number of schools early on.

So far Lane says he's heard from South Carolina State, Appalachian Sate, Marshall, Duke, Clemson, Furman, Wofford, Davidson, and Old Dominion.

Out of those he says Marshall, Old Dominion, and Clemson are showing him the most interest.

"This off season I'm working on improving the mental parts of the game, my strength, quickness, and ball skills."

He's looking forward to playing in every game this season in order to make his claim for scholarships.

Asked to compare his game to the player he feels his game most resembles and he quickly gave us an answer.

"Devin Hester, and I say this because we both have tremendous lateral speed. That and special teams are key to our game."

Lane says three things will be big for him in choosing a college.

"I want to go to a school with high graduation rates, a good location, and that throws the ball a lot."

Lane reports a core GPA of 3.3 and a overall GPA of 3.478.
