Austin Turner Profile

2013 Lexington High School offensive lineman Austin Turner emerged this off season as a player to keep a very close eye on. College coaches have liked what they've seen of Turner thus far and we feel it won't be long before he lands additional scholarship offers. SCPrepNation.com caught up with Turner for a quick update about his recruitment.

"Things have been going great. We have had two scrimmages against Gilbert/Newberry, and Spartanburg so far the preseason. We also played Gilbert in the Palmetto Pigskin Classic and won 14-6 with it only being a 15 min game."

With the season set to start tonight for many teams the energy is definitely in the air throughout the state for high school football fans and players alike.

"I am really excited headed into the season with some of the best competition in the state."

Turner says his recruitment remains pretty steady and he's made a number of visits during the past month. One program really made a strong impression on Turner too apparently.

"I have still been receiving a good bit of interest for several schools like Clemson, NC State, Appalachian State, Wofford, Elon, Wingate, and the Citadel. I was on the road this recently visiting several of those schools. I checked out Wingate, Elon and NC State who were scrimmaging."

"I was most impressed with Elon as I had never visited there but it was a beautiful campus and the coaches were all great. I was able to talk to the offensive line coach Mattes for awhile and got to know about their program a lot better. They run a very fast paced offensive which I really like."

An in-state school has been in Turner's ear quite a bit too lately he says.

"I've been talking to Coastal Carolina a lot lately too."

Turner logged a number of miles this off season visiting schools for camps and to gather information about potential colleges. He'll hit the road feverishly again during the season too he says.

"I plan on getting back up to App State and Clemson soon. I have several games already scheduled to attend when the season starts but I am still wide open to offers and would love to keep looking until I find that perfect match."

SCPrepNation.com will keep you abreast of Turner's recruitment as we expect things to heat up once the season gets underway and he gets a few games under his belt. Stay tuned for the very latest right here!
