Obinna Ntiasagwe Profile

Ridge View High School's Obinna Ntiasagwe more than made his mark a season ago for his squad. The 2013 prospect amassed some strong numbers en route to impressing quite a few college coaches. In fact, Ntiasagwe already has one scholarship offer and is hungry to start the season to add more offers to his haul. That's why he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com!

Like many high school players Obinna Ntiasagwe just wants a chance to play college football and the opportunity to earn a college degree. The 2013 prospect made it clear that although he's lined up primarily at defensive end and tackle for his Blazers team he'll be anxious to work wherever college coaches would like to place him.

"As a high school player, I'm a defensive lineman. It doesn't matter to me what position I end up playing at the next level, as long I get my dream of playing college ball."

From a statistical standpoint he dominated but his ability to create pressure is something that isn't written in the stat sheets.

"I had 107 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 8 sacks, 2 blocks, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 pass breakup last season."

His play last season generated a ton of buzz for him as he's got a long list of suitors currently. Ntiasagwe shared them with us.

"Right now I'm hearing from South Carolina, Clemson, Georgia Tech, UNC-Charlotte, Furman, Wofford, Coastal Carolina, Auburn, Virginia Military Institute, Citadel, North Carolina State, SC State, and Appalachian State."

Currently he says a trio from that group is chasing him the hardest right now.

"Right now Georgia Tech and VMI are recruiting me the hardest."

VMI is the only school that has offered Ntiasagwe thus far but that may change in the near future. Schools want to evaluate him early in the season and he feels a few offers may be on the cusp for him soon.

"I feel like Georgia Tech, Charlotte, and Coastal Carolina may be close to offering me."

Ntiasagwe made it clear that he really likes Georgia Tech and would love to earn an offer from the Yellow Jackets.

As for his upcoming senior season Obinna told us what he wants for his team and himself on a personal level this year.

"To simply win games and make a deep run in the playoffs. On a personal level I want to play to my fullest potential and secure more scholarship offers."

One team in particular he says he's really looking forward to tangling with this season.

"I'm really looking forward to our game against Lexington because they made such a presence last season, and I look to forward to making our presence by opening the season against them."

Right now he says his speed and nose for the ball are his biggest strengths on the field.

This off season he keyed a lot on being more violent with his hands and placement to become a more complete player.
