Many people feel that football requires the larger and stronger athlete to excel in a big way and enjoy success. Don't tell that to 2014 Greer High running back Quez Nesbitt. All 5'6 150 pounds of Nesbitt is the antithesis of those thoughts. On Friday night he showed that you don't have to be 6'1 220 pounds to post huge numbers as he went on to have a career night against rivals Riverside.
To be honest Nesbitt had a Playstation-like performance against Riverside on Friday night. He talked with us about it
"Last night I was just following my blocking and trusting my offensive line. I didn't really know how many yards I had until the end of the game. I had 313 rushing yard with 5 touchdowns. I also had 80 receiving and a touchdown catch."
Through 2 games this year Nesbitt has 30 rushes for 530 yards rushing and 10 rushing touchdowns. He also has 5 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers are pretty strong for the junior prospect but it's a continuation from his sophomore season.
"Last year I had 152 rushes for 1090 yards and 14 touchdowns. I also had 4 receiving touchdowns too. I had an ankle injury the last couple of games but I tried to play on it still."
Nesbitt is eager to hear from any and all schools he says and he wants a chance to showcase his talents on the next level. Thus far he's shown it's hard to tackle what you can't see or catch as he has 4.47 speed in the 40 yard dash.
With his team evening their record last night to 1-1 Nesbitt says his ultimate goal for the Yellow Jackets is to win the AAA state championship this year. He also talked about some personal goals he'd like to reach along the way.
"I hope to get 1,500 yards and over 20 touchdowns but my main goal is to help my team win a state championship."
