The 5'10 205 pound prospect is "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com!

Tyrin Beckett Profile

Estill's record stands at 3-1 currently and one of their top prospects is 2013 linebacker Tyrin Beckett. The 5'10 205 pound prospect had a big junior season which lead to All-Region and team defensive MVP honors. His play on the field has sparked the interest of a number of schools early on and Beckett is hoping to add some offers before too long. He's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com and the FoxSportsNEXT network.

"Last year I had 92 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 interceptions. On offense I had 29 carries for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns."

His junior season also saw him face his toughest challenge in his career against a high powered star filled squad.

"My most memorable game was against Bamberg-Ehrhardt last year in the playoffs going up against Kevin Crosby and Demetrius Odom. The game was tight the first half and we were up 14 to 12 but unfortunately we lost 40 to 14. I had 14 tackles that night. It was great going up against some of the best talent in the state."

The matchup Beckett says provided him with the toughest individual opponent he's faced thus far in his career too.

"Demetrius Odom of Bamberg-Ehrhardt is the toughest player I've faced. With him playing running back and I'm playing linebacker we basically were going at it all night. He was so tough to deal with because he's a strong/quick running back and I basically had to try and tame him all night from sideline to sideline."

So far Beckett is hearing from a handful of schools and he's hoping his play will bring more suitors in the coming weeks and months.

Asked to talk about his strengths on the field Beckett had this to say, "I have a nose for the ball and I can read plays well from the linebacker position. I have the tendency to make big hits and force fumbles. Also I'm a power-back, a downhill runner and have the ability to break tackles for extra yardage. Most of my yards comes from after contact."

So far Beckett has visited one school so far he says. The program actually isn't too far from Estill.

"I've visited Charleston Southern. It has a nice campus and atmosphere."

CSU isn't the only school Beckett would like to hear more from though.

"I'd like to hear more from Georgia Southern, North Carolina, Appalachian State, East Carolina, North Carolina State, and Virginia Tech."

Beckett talked about the goals he has for his team and for himself on a personal level this season.

"I want to win our region, make it to the playoffs, have home playoff games, finish strong, go hard, and play every game like its your last."

"Personally I'd like to get over 100 tackles, rush for 1,000+ yards, make the playoffs, win state, and earn myself a football scholarship to a D1 school."

Beckett says that getting a good education, campus atmosphere, graduation rates, coaching staff, facilities, and early playing time will be the biggest factors he'll weigh when looking at potential colleges. The 2013 prospect says he'd like to major in accounting and reports a 3.2 GPA in the classroom currently.

SCPrepNation.com will continue to track Tyrin Beckett as his senior season rolls on so keep it right here for more updates with the 2013 prospect.
