The season has gotten off to a great start for the Easley Green Wave. They lost their first game of the season on Friday night against Laurens moving their record to 4-1 but the whole culture surrounding the Easley football program has changed in recent years. One of their top prospects is 2013 offensive lineman Jordan Hennessee. With one offer already to his name Hennessee spoke with SCPrepNation.com for a quick update regarding his recruitment.
Given the fast start for the Green Wave we asked Hennessee what his personal thoughts were regarding their start on a team and personal level.
"My hard work during the off season is really paying off. There is always room for improvement, but I am proud of my success so far."
Hennessee says that he's been on quite a few visits since the beginning of the season to check out potential schools. He shared with us some of the things he liked best about each one too.
"I have visited Concord (offer), Furman, and Elon. Concord was very open. I really enjoyed spending time with the team and coaching staff. Furman and Elon are both very strong academic schools. I enjoyed the game atmosphere at both."
One new program just started showing Hennessee interest recently after seeing his early season film.
"I have been in contact with Old Dominion. They were impressed with my first 4 games highlight film."
Hennessee says he's not certain if anyone else may be close to offering right now but the 6'6 305 pound prospect continues to strive for improvement each week.
"I plan to visit Wofford in October and hope to catch a few other games before the end of the season."
As we mentioned before the entire culture surrounding the Easley football program has changed drastically over the last few years. Hennessee talked about the love and togetherness that the community shows for the Green Wave.
"Easley is a great football community. Game day starts with the varsity players going to all of the elementary schools at 7am to open car doors for the kids. The Easley Touchdown Club holds a luncheon and recognizes the players of the week from the middle school and high school. Our mom's club organizes a pre-game meal and we have a guest speaker. We have huge crowds at home and usually have more fans for away games than the home team. I think we work a little harder, because we want to win for the Easley community."
Looking ahead the 2013 prospect explained what the goals are for his Green Wave squad.
"Our goals are simple. We want to get better everyday and win every game we play. We have a chance to have a special season."
A strong student in the classroom Hennessee continues to get it done. That hard work very well could give him a leg up on many other prospects in more ways than one.
"My coursework to graduate is almost complete, and I am a candidate to enroll in January. This seems to be important to some schools to be an early enrollee."
