Keynard Campbell Jr. Profile

Last year was a coming out party for 2014 safety and running back prospect Keynnard Campbell Jr. of Bible Baptist School. Playing at quarterback, running back, and safety for head coach Jonathan Mauk, Campbell had a strong showing last year as a sophomore and he's already hearing from a number of D1 schools early on in the process. We caught up with Campbell recently to talk about his season and recruitment.

"Last year at quarterback I was 22-34 for 195 yards and 5 touchdowns. I had 180 carries for 1,307 yards and 8 touchdowns. On defense I had 47 tackles and 9 sacks. I also had 2 kickoff returns for touchdowns."

His work on the field earned Campbell quite a few awards too.

"I was named SCISA All-State Player of the Year, to the 1st team offense, and 1st team defense."

Asked to look back on his career to this point and remember his best performance Campbell recalled one game in particular.

"My best game would have to be against Frederica Academy for homecoming last year. I had 18 carries for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns. I also had a passing touchdown. We were losing the game and we had to rally back."

Right now Campbell says his squad's record stands at 3-4 on the season.

His goals for the team this season he says are to have a winning record and win a state championship.

"On a personal level I'd like to help the team win a state championship and have at least 1,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing."

The 5'10 185 pound prospect is already hearing from a trio of schools.

"I'm hearing from Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Georgia so far. Out of those three I would say Florida State is recruiting me the hardest."

Campbell has yet to take any visits but is looking forward to doing so in the near future.

The 2014 prospect reports a 3.7 GPA in the classroom and has yet to take the ACT or SAT yet. He talked with us about what he'll look at closely when looking at potential colleges.

"I'll consider the recruitment process, getting a good education, the coaches, and the atmosphere. I'd like to major in some sort of engineering."
