Game Report: 2015 SG Gage Ellis

2015 Legacy Charter School SG Gage Ellis had it going on Saturday night as he powered the Lions to a win over Mt. Zion (NC). The Lions saw their lead grow early and Ellis was impressive all night attacking the basket, knocking down shots from the perimeter, and finishing in transition. With some offers already on the table Ellis should see more schools coming by soon.

Gage Ellis Profile

It was their first home game of the season and Legacy Charter School was abuzz. Their game was set to start at 5:30 but visiting Mt. Zion Christian Academy from Durham, North Carolina got lost en route to Greenville. So there was a 2+ hour delay and the JV teams played two 12 minute halves with a running clock. Fans stayed patient in anticipation to see how Legacy would do in their first home outing and 2015 shooting guard Gage Ellis and the Lions didn't disappoint.

Ellis we've already seen quite a few times and we know about his prowess on the perimeter. On Saturday night however Ellis was in attack mode and he finished the night with 23 points, 7 steals, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds according to our tally.

The beneficiary of some steals from backcourt mate Juwan Evans, Ellis broke out early with some buckets in transition. That set the tone for the night as he repeatedly attacked the rim and either finished, got fouled, or both.

His ballhandling has improved since we last saw him as he handled the Rock Well against Mt. Zion. Another area where he shined on the night was getting into the passing lanes and using his long arms to come up with 7 steals on the night according to our count.

Ellis has early interest from the likes of Furman, Western Carolina, Georgia Tech, Wofford, and Clemson. He has an offer from Western Carolina.

Ellis says he'd like to hear more from South Carolina, Connecticut, Duke, and North Carolina moving forward.

Stay tuned as we'll have HD video highlights of Ellis in action against Mt. Zion later on today so stay tuned!
