Jay Hood Profile

The Lancaster Bruins had a tough go of it this past season going 3-9 on the year. One bright spot for their team moving forward is 2015 wide receiver Jay Hood. A prospect with good size and speed, Hood has the work ethic and mindset to make himself the best he possibly can be. We caught up with Hood to talk about his sophomore season, recruitment, and more as he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com!

It was a tough season as we stated before for Hood and the Bruins but the 6'3 180 pound prospect gave the Bruin faithful a glimpse of what appears to be a bright future with him slated to return for 2 more seasons. The sophomore spoke to SCPrepNation.com on Monday afternoon about his year.

"This year I had 37 catches for 617 yards and 5 touchdowns."

One game in particular stood out for Hood as his best of his sophomore season though.

"The Fort Mill game was my best. I had 7 catches for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns."

The 2015 prospect knows exactly where his strengths are currently at this point in his career and he also talked about some other areas that he'd like to improve upon to be even better.

"My strengths are my height, my route running, and my ability to catch the ball in the air. I'd say my quickness and my footwork can get better."

Looking ahead to his junior season Hood says he'd like to help his team achieve a winning record, make the playoffs, and play for a championship. The Lancaster standout also talked about what he'd like to accomplish on a personal level come next year.

"My goals are to get over 1,000 ards receiving, make over 50 catches, catch 10 or more touchdowns."

Still relatively early in his career Hood has heard from a couple of schools thus far he says. He also talked about what schools he's most interested in hearing more from in the near future.

"I've heard from Minnesota and some other schools so far. I like Wake Forest, Auburn, Vanderbilt, and Duke."

Given some of the schools he's interested in and their academic prowess Hood has performed equally as well in the classroom. He currently reports a 3.6 GPA and says that he'll be taking the SAT in March for the first time.

Hood says he plans on hitting the road this off season to go to various camps and combines. He intends to camp with Wake Forest and South Carolina while attending combines with Nike, NUC, and Carolina Combines.

With the Super Bowl coming up in a couple weeks we couldn't resist asking Hood which team he sees coming away with the victory and why.

"The Ravens because I like how they play and how they play with a lot of pride."
