Sophomore running back Lutrell Dallas of Southside High School carried much of the load for the Tigers this past season. The 5'11 196 pound 2015 prospect has emerged as a player to keep a close eye on over the next two seasons. That's why he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com!
Having seen Dallas in action this past season he was pretty accurate when asked what player he likes to pattern his style of play after.
"I like to compare myself to Adrian Peterson due to the physical nature and running style."
Dallas rushed 238 times for 1,314 yards and 12 touchdowns this year. His didn't go unnoticed either as he picked up All-Region honors for his efforts.
The 2015 prospect knows exactly where his strengths are currently on the field. He also talked about an area where he'd like to make improvements moving forward with two more years of high school left.
"I feel as if my best strengths are my abilities to pass block, take hits, and not be tackled by just one person. I want to improve on my speed, so I can increase my performance on the field."
His on the field accomplishments were great but one game in particular stood out for Dallas he says.
"My best game would have been against Travelers Rest, in that game I had 38 carries for 289 yards and 4 touchdowns. What made that game so memorable was that it was my first game on television. I also received a trophy (player of the game) for my performance."
Looking ahead to his junior season next year the 2015 prospect talked about his goals for the Tigers and himself in the fall.
"My goals for next season for the team are to finish the season with a positive record and go farther into the playoffs. My personal goals for next season are to have 2,000+ rushing yards and 20+ rushing touchdowns."
In an effort to improve for next season Dallas has been working with a speed trainer who also trains the likes of Gaffney running back Hyleck Foster who is fresh off an all-state and state championship performance in the AAAA ranks. So how has working out with Foster gone for Dallas?
"Its been great I really feel as if I can compete with them."
Although no schools have officially started recruiting the physical back he says he's looking forward to hearing from Georgia, Clemson, South Carolina, Florida, and Florida State in the near future. To generate more interest he's hoping his sophomore season film along with competing at multiple camps and combines this season will help his stock.
Although he's more than 2 years away from the 2015 National Signing Day the sophomore already knows what he'll be taking a close look at when choosing a potential college destination.
"Location, style of play, atmosphere, and conference strength are going to be important to me."
Given his physical style of play as a running back Dallas' strength is definitely one area where he stands out compared to most other running backs his age. He uses his strength effectively and as he continues to grow and increase his speed we foresee a lot of schools taking a long hard look at him over the course of the next two seasons.
