Taneyhill Talks About 2014 WR T.J. Foster

We spoke with Union County head football coach Steve Taneyhill this afternoon about 2014 wide receiver T.J. Foster. The talented junior has picked up a pair of D1 offers in recent days and his head coach talked at length about Foster and his upside moving forward with SCPrepNation.com in this FREE article!

T.J. Foster Profile

We spoke with Union County head football coach Steve Taneyhill regarding 2014 wide receiver T.J. Foster on Tuesday afternoon and the former University of South Carolina star quarterback gave us the inside scoop regarding his fast rising prospect.

"T.J. was the fourth guy in our wide receiver group heading into this past season. He was our best wide receiver in the playoffs. He's 6'3 175 pounds and has great hands. He catches nothing in on his body. He's not a burner but he's kinda like that basketball player out there."

The 2014 prospect has picked up a pair of offers in the past couple of days.

"Louisville called and offered him yesterday and East Carolina called and offered him this morning," Taneyhill said.

"He's on the path. I'm happy for him. What's happened with him is that playoff stretch, he performed at a high level. There was the Wren game in the playoffs where he had 3 touchdown catches and a big interception on defense at safety. We may play him there some this coming season again."

In regards to his recruitment Taneyhill says he's hearing from a lot of schools via mail currently. He told us that Foster will be taking some trips in the near future.

"We couldn't get him up to Louisville for their Junior Day but he'll be going to their Spring Game on April 13th."

We asked Taneyhill if Foster reminded him of any players past or present and he chimed in quickly with a pair of prospects. One he coached at a previous stop and another one from the Upstate area who's now in college.

"He reminds me of Keith Graham who I coached at West Ashley High School. He played in the Shrine Bowl, Fork Union, and ended up at Coastal Carolina. I had Keith down there as a basketball player and he comes out for football his junior year. That's the type of player he reminds me of. Keith was a heck of a football player for West Ashley. T.J. is so athletic, he can move his body and can make plays that a burner isn't going to make. With a 37" vertical and great hands those things make him an athlete out there. He also sort of reminds me of the kid that was at Gaffney, Quinshad Davis, who's at UNC now. Tall and thin but can go out and make plays."

With a pair of offers in from out-of-state schools we asked Taneyhill what the status was with the in-state powers for Foster.

"Last year he went to camp at Clemson. Coach Jeff Scott liked him but they haven't been in contact with him and we talked at the coaches clinic a few weeks back. South Carolina, they haven't looked at him yet."

We'll keep you posted about the recruitment of T.J. Foster moving forward here on SCPrepNation.com. Also stay tuned for more about coach Taneyhill's Union County Yellow Jackets as he's got some young prospects who he feels will make plenty of noise in the coming years for his team.
