Kalan Ritchie Profile

With 5 scholarship offers in hand 2014 tight end Kalan Ritchie of Goose Creek High School is off to a solid start approaching the evaluation period. The 6'5 220 pound prospect is currently rated 3 stars and is ranked the #2 tight end in the state according to FoxSportsNEXT but we here at SCPrepNation.com have him rated the #1 tight end prospect in the state for 2014. We sat down with Ritchie for an in-depth update concerning his recruitment.

"I've got offers from North Carolina State, Connecticut, South Carolina, Clemson, and Virginia Tech right now."

There are a few schools that are pushing harder than the others currently Ritchie told us.

"I'd say South Carolina, Clemson, and North Carolina State are recruiting me the hardest right now."

Those 5 schools are high on Ritchie's list having offered but they aren't the only schools that he's interested in hearing from. He shared with us some other schools he's wanting to hear a lot more from in the near future.

"I'd like to hear more from Georgia, North Carolina, Miami, and Tennessee."

The 2014 prospect doesn't have any one thing in particular that he'll look at closely when choosing a school. He says it will be a combination of a lot of things that he'll consider when making his selection.

"I'll look at education, location, style of play, coaching staff, conference strength, atmosphere, facilities, and graduation rates. All of those things!"

So if the right offer comes along or the notion hits him is there a chance Ritchie will commit early on in the process?

"I want to wait for Signing Day."

Ritchie informed us that looking ahead to his senior season he's got some goals that he's set for himself.

"I'd like to be a team captain, make at least 30 catches, and score 15 or more touchdowns next season."

Asked if he patterns his game or style of play after any particular players out there he had a quick and assertive answer.

"I'm my own player. No disrespect. I don't want to pattern my game after anyone else's."

Stay tuned to SCPrepNation.com as we'll have more updates with Kalan Ritchie with the evaluation period set to start in a few days. We expect that he'll add more offers to his list before the period ends on May 31st.
