Roshad Griffith Profile

Southside has long been known in recent years a school primarily known for it's basketball program but the school has a couple of football prospects on the radar who are generating some interest from college coaches. We've already spotlighted 2015 running back Lutrell Dallas and now we turn our attention to 2014 cornerback Roshad Griffith, he's "UP NEXT" with SCPrepNation.com.

Griffith compiled a strong junior season with the Tigers and he shared those stats with us.

"I had 75 tackles, 4 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, and 400+ yards in kickoff returns."

His play on the field earned him all-conference honors but it's the potential that Griffith possesses that has so many intrigued.

At 6'0 170 pounds he's got the physical tools Griffith has other intangibles that has piqued the interest of some regional schools early on. He's also a strong performer in the classroom with a 4.02 GPA.

So far Griffith has heard from Furman, Presbyterian, Appalachian State, and Gardner Webb. There are a pair of schools he'd like to hear more from in the near future he told us.

"Duke and Georgia."

Last season was a success as it was Griffith's first for the Tigers. He previously played JV ball at Hillcrest before transferring over to Southside. He talked about his best game last year as a junior.

"My best game was against Carolina High. I had 8 tackles 3 pass break ups and what made it so memorable was that I knocked a kid out with one of my hits."

It's that kind of physicality that we see in Griffith that is starting to open the eyes of college coaches. With his size and speed (4.55 second 40 yard dash) he's got the prototype size for a cornerback.

With school and spring practice finishing up Griffith talked with us about what he'd like to accomplish next year as a senior.

"I'd like to be named All-State, have 10 interceptions or more, score 2 touchdowns, have 85+ tackles, have 500+ yards receiving at wide receiver, and have 600+ yards and 2 touchdowns on kickoff returns."

As we mentioned before Griffith gets in done in the classroom reporting an overall GPA of 4.02 and a core GPA of 3.75. College coaches have stopped by to look at others and left highly impressed and intrigued by his transcript and abilities on the field as well. It's an area that Griffith takes just as much pride in.

"Mostly education is going to be the most important factor for me in choosing a school. I want to attend a college that has a good engineering program. I am open to anybody and everybody that wants to recruit me."

Griffith had a message that he wanted to relay to any potential college coaches out there as well.

"I'm a hard worker. I do what my coaches ask, no questions asked. I just love the game of footaball and just want to continue playing on the next level a great deal also while receiving a great education."
