Rapidly moving up in the eyes of college coaches is 2014 wide receiver/athlete Dre Massey of Mauldin High School. Although he piled up 3,000+ yards from scrimmage playing mostly at quarterback for the Mavericks many college coaches envision him as a dangerous wide receiver. Massey is currently head to camp with an SEC school and he talks about the very latest regarding his recruitment with SCPrepNation.com.
"I'm heading to Georgia for camp right now," Massey said.
"I've been talking to coach Bobo and the recruiting coaches a good bit lately. They wanted me to come visit and come their camps and stuff so we'll see how it goes from there."
The Georgia staff already knows a lot about Massey and they want to see more of him in person he says.
"He said he wants to see me at wide reciever. He knows I play quarterback so he said he's gonna work with me because he knows I got the speed also so I'm okay."
Massey picked up his first offer from Marshall last month and he's hoping to add more in the coming weeks with a hectic camp schedule in front of him.
"I've already been to camp at Clemson and Georgia Tech. I'm going to go to North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State, and possibly Florida State too. I'm going back to Georgia again next month as well."
One thing is certain, Massey is in high demand after coaches viewed his junior season highlights.
"I've got a real good relationship with coaches at both Clemson and Georgia Tech. I'm just on the grind for these offers right now. They should be coming in this summer after camps hopefully."
So with so many new schools in the mix and camps slated to attend who may be the next to offer Massey?
"I'd say Clemson, then Georgia Tech, then hopefully Georgia. UNC Charlotte somewhere in there too but they are coming definitely."
With the nearby Tigers in the mix we asked Massey what the coaches at Clemson have been saying they like most about him thus far.
"They said they love my speed and my jumping ability. Just how I am in game situations to get the ball even in traffic just to go get it. Coach Brooks is recruiting me from Clemson along with coach Venables. Coach Sweeney talked to me when they saw me making catches in traffic so yeah they say they like me a lot."
Massey informed us during our last interview with him that he's dropped his 40 time down in the 4.3 range and is training feverishly to lower it even more, we'll try to catch up with Massey soon to video some of his workouts.
