2014 QB/ATH Demetrius Anthony Is Versatile

Last season QB/ATH Demetrius Anthony stepped up and guided Christ Church to a state championship. His ability to lead has some schools looking at him at QB while others see his versatility and envision him at wide receiver or safety. Either way Anthony is still looking for his first offer and he talked about his recruitment and more with SCPrepNation.com!

Demetrius Anthony Profile

Getting it done last season was 2014 quarterback/athlete Demetrius Anthony of Christ Church Episcopal School. Guiding his Cavaliers to a state championship Anthony looked like the perfect piece to their puzzle last season.

Schools are starting to take note of his talents after amassing 2,300+ passing yards and 24 touchdowns through the air with a 58% completion rate while rushing for 650+ yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. The 6'0 196 pound prospect sat down with SCPrepNation.com to talk about the latest regarding his recruitment and more!

"Lately I've been hearing from Georgia Tech, Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State, and Clemson."

Anthony has visited with a couple of schools as well he told us.

"I've visited with Georgia Tech, Clemson, and UNC Charlotte. I camped with Charleston Southern about a week ago and with Georgia Tech last Sunday."

He says he got a chance to delve into the academic prowess of both Clemson and Georgia Tech and make a comparison of what an education from both schools would be like.

When asked which schools were recruiting him the hardest right now he informed us a pair of schools.

"Georgia Tech and Charleston Southern right now. Both of them are recruiting me at quarterback but a lot of schools realize I'm versatile enough to play at wide receiver or safety too."

The Georgia Tech coaches shared a lot with Anthony he says.

"They told me that I am a real good kid, that I have a great character, and that I'm talented on the field. They also said my grades support those facts and I am a great athlete."

Still waiting on his first offer Anthony takes it all in good stride despite a breakout season last year while leading his team to a state championship.

"I think that a lot of schools want to see if my true first year of football was or wasn't a fluke, and that I can consistently do what I did last year and do it even better this year."

To enhance his chances of earning a scholarship he's been working hard this off season to strengthen various aspects of his game overall and he shared with us some of the key areas he's been working hardest on.

"I've been working on having a quick release, throwing the ball with more velocity, learning not to just use my arm but using the ground up to help the speed of the ball, and becoming more accurate of a passer."

Anthony also talked about some of his strengths already which he feels helped him a great deal last season.

"I think one of my biggest strengths now is that not only can I be a passer I can create time with my feet as a passer, and if needed I can run the ball. Also I have learned much about defenses and coverage with a lot of film study and work."

Although that first offer has yet to come the 2014 prospect talked about how he'll feel when it does soon hopefully.

"Of course it will feel great to finally have a offer! Also you would like to have many options of where you would like to go, but it would mean a lot to me getting my first offer."
