Javis Howard Profile

Helping his team to an undefeated season last year 2014 power forward Javis Howard of Irmo High School continued his strong play right into the AAU circuit. The 6'8 200 pound prospect hasn't slowed down or cooled off one bit as he's become one of the state's most sought after prospects. Howard holds 30 offers and talked with SCPrepNation.com about his recruitment and more in a recent interview.

After informing us of the fact that he now holds 30 offers Howard shared exactly why.

"Yeah this was my breakout summer!"

Howard holds offers from St. Joseph's, College of Charleston, The Citadel, Kansas State, UNC-Charlotte, Rhode Island, Youngstown State, Richmond, Buffalo, Charleston Southern, Murray State, James Madison, Hofstra, Northeastern, High Point, Southern Miss, Presbyterian, Middle Tennessee, Appalachian State, Norfolk State, Chattanooga, Furman, Winthrop, Radford, Florida Atlantic, Old Dominion, Wofford, Jacksonville, Marshall, and Georgia Southern.

He also talked about other schools who are showing strong interest currently.

"Right now I'm hearing a lot from Dayton, Georgia, VCU, and East Carolina."

The 6'8 200 pound prospect when asked if he had to compare his game to any other player out there had this to say.

"I'd say Antawn Jamison. He likes to post and can step out and shoot it."

As mentioned earlier Howard helped Irmo go undefeated en route to a AAAA state championship last season. The 2014 prospect talked about what areas of his game he'll work on the most this off season and what his goals are for his upcoming senior season.

"I really want to improve my perimeter play and shooting. I went from post, to mid-range and now I'm trying to step out more and knock down shots."

"As for next year I want to help my team repeat as state champions. Be more of a leader because Jordan Roper left, Justin McKie picked up the slack, and now he's gone so it's my turn to step up and be the leader now."

With so many schools already reaching out to Howard there's one school that had a huge run in last year's NCAA tournament that he'd like to hear more from soon he says.

"I'd like to hear from Florida Gulf Coast."

Stay tuned as we'll keep you up to date when it comes to Javis Howard's recruitment. With 30 offers in hand we expect more schools to keep calling with offers for the talented forward.
