A common phrase heard in recruiting is "you can't teach size." Well one 2014 prospect at York High School, Shuler Littleton, fits that statement. He's not just big Littleton has a lot of potential and he's already landed one scholarship offer. He's hoping a strong senior season will land him more offers soon. We caught up with the offensive tackle who checks in at 6'7 270 pounds.
Word is slowly starting to get out about Littleton and he talked about the schools that he's heard from thus far.
"I'm hearing from Wofford, Coastal Carolina, Palomar, Campbell, UNC Charlotte, Gardner-Webb, Liberty and a few more that I met throughout the past school that I can't think of right now off the top of my head."
"I've got an offer from Campbell. I went up there and he told me that he was gonna offer me a full ride but he didn't literally give me one. He wants me to come for an official visit and he said he'll give me one then. Its pretty much set in stone he said that come February he deson't want me to gorget that he was the first to offer me. It feels really and like everything I've worked for is starting to come together to get my first offer."
Campbell may be the first to offer but the rest of the schools are staying in touch with Littleton on a regular basis he says.
"I talk to them all just about every other day. I would say that Campbell, Wofford, Gardner-Webb, Liberty, and Palomar are recruiting me the hardest right now."
This off season has been one that Littleton says he's been trying to strengthen various areas of his game to get better.
"I've been working my hardest to put on a lot of good weight on and also working on my foot work. I've been just trying to focus on it a lot more and get my mindset right."
Talking about areas of his game that he feels are the strengths of his game already he had this to say.
"I think my quickness and endurance help me a lot you know. I feel like I can keep playing my hardest long after that guy in front of me gives in. I come off and hit him as hard as I can every play of the game."
With one offer already Littleton talked to us about what other schools he's interested in hearing more from moving forward.
"I've always wanted to go to Clemson and some other schools like Western Carolina and Appalachian State."
The 2014 prospect also talked about what college coaches can expect from him.
"They should know that I'm a nice and smart guy overall and that I tend to get along with everyone. When I'm on the field though I'm not there to play around. I'm there to get the job done right and the same thing goes for off the field in the classroom."
He reports a 1100 on the 2 part SAT (math and reading. Littleton also says his GPA is just below a 3.0.
